My Career In Wellness
I began my career in Clare Park Hospital just outside of London working with some highly inspiring surgeons, nurses, and skincare specialists helping clients heal and recover from their surgical scars.
Back in 2015 I moved with my three beautiful children to Bristol where I was asked to join the ‘Scar Team’ at a local private hospital.
This was such a proud moment of my career that has enabled me to continue my passion in post-surgical reconstruction of facial features, skin grafts, burns, plus surgical and trauma scars using a mixture of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, Scar therapy and Medical Tattooing.
My Discovery Of Hyperbaric Oxygen
It was only when instead of being the practitioner, I became the patient! It was the expertise and past success of my surgeon who suggested I try HBOT to help with my pre and post-surgical healing.
At this time the wellness field of hyperbaric was, to say the least, bleak! To make matters worse, no medical hyperbaric centre would take on anything other than their VERY small list of conditions under the NHS.
After visiting all four of the hyperbaric wellness centres in the UK at the time, I soon realised there was a huge difference in equipment and varying different answers to my HBOT related questions. This did not fill me with confidence.
Following a lot of research and trial and error, I came across a great clinic near to London who were fabulous and really inspired me. I was advised to have 10 sessions before my surgery and then 10 sessions post-surgery. This was quite a commitment but sooooooooo incredibly worth it.
The first 10 sessions then took me on an incredible journey through what I can only describe as an awakening. I was carrying a lot of emotional stress and long-term concussion.
I finally started to feel lighter and brighter, my anxiety lifted, this was such a surprise as I didn’t even realised how supressed I was until the inflammation had been lifted from my body. I became more alert, sharper and my Raynaud’s was fading away at long last.
The prolific moment for me was when I was with my daughter; sitting on the café benches as we aways did on a Tuesday after her swim lesson. I was purely focusing on my little girl and not thinking about the million and one things I had to do. I was present! I was giggling again.
Waking up from my surgery was like someone clicking their fingers and your back in the room, no grogginess, no pain, no confusion. To be honest I was a bit peeved off, I was all set to be drugged up and have a few days doing nothing.
I later found out HBOT has a fantastic ability to optimise cellular energy allowing your body to detox and remove inflammation. The consultant and the nurses couldn’t believe how quickly I bounced back.
The next day I procced with the second half of my HBOT sessions. Post-Hyperbaric healing and recovery. This time the Hyperbarics made me tired but fortunately kept the swelling and pain to a minimum. My scars were healing very well and the HBOT killed all bacteria to help reduce infection.
Months later and still feeling the benefits, I went for my final check-up with my consultant. He was super excited by the results. Commenting that the fat grafting had taken at least 90% (a typical fat graft will only take 40 to 70%) and he was VERY happy with my healing.
It was at this moment that I quite simply needed to know EVERYTHING about hyperbaric oxygen therapy! As a scar therapist this was music to my ears.
My Career In Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
Because of all of the conflicting opinions within the wellness sector, it took a long time to find the real answers.
By talking, learning and working with numerous industry professionals I was able to get a much better understanding on Hyperbarics and saw for my own eyes the huge numbers of people who were getting stronger by the day with HBOT, yet it was still very unknown, much to my surprise.
Over the years I have put myself on many courses, even travelling as far as America. I have spent time at the DDRC in Plymouth, where I completed the Hyperbaric course for medical professionals.
The DDRC is a medical Hyperbaric centre connected to Plymouth hospital who have a dedicated department to studying HBOT on the brain. Their huge multi-person hyperbaric oxygen chambers where all manned with industry professionals.
The final stage before opening the Oxygen Room, involved working in the charities that helped people with MS, giving them use of Hyperbaric oxygen. These are fantastic centres across the UK, which are giving people hope and help.
HBOT energises the cells and floods the tissues with oxygen giving the body a means of enhanced healing. Here I gained invaluable insight into hyperbarics and the huge healing opportunities for us all.

Having gained extensive experience in both medical and wellness hyperbarics, it was now time for Oxygen Room to be born, Bristol’s first private hard shell Hyperbaric oxygen therapy clinic.
