Questions and Answers

How do I prepare

Check test requirements For some tests, it is recommended that you fast (not eat or drink anything other than water) or stop taking medication/supplements for a period before sample collection. You can check this information by selecting your test on our website and reading the “When should the test be taken?” section.

Drink water

Drink plenty of water in the hours before your blood draw and a large glass 30 minutes prior to ensure you are well-hydrated.

Short sleeves

Please wear short sleeves to your appointment as your arm needs to be exposed for the blood draw.

- Non fasting can impact the following; heart health, cardiovascular risk score, diabetes health, iron status or testosterone levels (males).
- Do not smoke for a minimum of 30 minutes before your appointment.
- Please avoid strenuous exercise for 48 hours before your appointment.
- Information will be sent to all clients once bookings are made to provide guidance with a personal medical and lifestyle questionnaire provided for our clients to complete.

Why get tested?

Regular blood tests and review of your health data is key to understanding and maintaining good health and wellbeing. It can help to identify potential health problems before symptoms arise allowing you to act early and make healthy choices to address any risk factors that could impact longevity or healthspan.
Through a series of blood and urine samples, we measure up to 150 biomarkers to provide a deeper understanding of your unique health profile including hormonal, heart, kidney, liver, thyroid, digestive and nutritional health.
Armed with this invaluable information, you'll be equipped to make simple diet and lifestyle changes that could prevent future illness and enhance your quality of life. But it doesn't stop there, over the next 6 months to help improve with repeat testing after 6 months, we're dedicated to helping you monitor your progress and identify further areas for improvement.

How long will the appointment last?

The average appointment will last 15 minutes. Do not hesitate to ask our staff any questions on the day of your blood test appointment, they will be happy to help you.

What to expect?

Before any bloods are taken your practitioner will ask you a few questions regarding your personal details, your medical history, previous blood taking appointments and possibly if you have eaten or not recently.

They will then check one of both of your arms for veins which is done by feel and not necessarily by seeing a vein on the surface. Once the best site for taking blood has been decided you will be asked to provide for consent to take blood. You will need to close the hand of the chosen arm and the area will be disinfected and a tourniquet applied to increase the pressure in the vein. A needle will be inserted and once in the correct position bloods will be taken which may require a number of differently coloured tubes to be filled with small amounts of blood. Whilst the last tube is filling up the tourniquet is removed.  The needle is then taken out and a small cotton wall ball will be applied which you can apply pressure to to keep in place. After 30-60 seconds this can be removed and a small plaster is applied to the area.

What does the appointment involve?

During your health check, Depending on the test booked, a series of body measurements may be taken, a blood draw conducted, and you may be asked to provide a urine sample.

What happens after my first appointment?

Your samples will be sent for analysis and within 2-5 business days you will receive notification to access your blood test results through the Randox Health portal (full details are provided on email), as well as an option to purchase a physical copy of your health report from Randox Health. If you have opted for a health and wellbeing discussion one of our personal co-ordinators will then be in touch to arrange a consultation call with a scientific advisor.
