Grounding & Thermal Imaging: Exploring the Body's Response

Could reconnecting with the Earth's natural surface influence how our bodies feel and respond?

Grounding, also known as earthing, involves making direct contact with the Earth's surface, whether by walking barefoot outdoors or using specially designed grounding products indoors.

One interesting area of research involves thermal imaging, a technology that allows us to visualise temperature patterns across the surface of the body.

What Does Thermal Imaging Show?

Thermal imaging uses infrared technology to detect differences in skin temperature, displaying warmer and cooler areas through contrasting colours.

Researchers have explored whether these temperature patterns change following grounding sessions. Some small studies and case reports have documented changes, raising questions about grounding's potential influence on circulation, physiological responses and wellbeing.

However, thermal imaging alone cannot tell us whether inflammation has decreased or whether a particular treatment has produced a health benefit.

Why We're Interested in Grounding

At Oxygen Room, we're passionate about exploring approaches that encourage better recovery, relaxation and long-term wellbeing.

With so much of modern life spent indoors, we believe that reconnecting with nature and developing simple, consistent wellness habits deserves greater attention.

Grounding is an emerging area of research. Although early findings are interesting, larger, high-quality studies are needed to understand its effects fully.

Bringing Grounding Into Everyday Life

Whether it's spending time barefoot on grass, enjoying the outdoors or exploring grounding products designed for home use, grounding can be incorporated into a broader wellbeing routine.

Our Wellness at Home collection brings together carefully selected products to help you explore simple ways to support your daily wellness habits.

Small daily habits. A more connected approach to wellbeing.

Thermal imaging provides information about skin temperature, not a clinical diagnosis of inflammation or proof of treatment effectiveness.
