Deep Red Design brings 850 nm near-infrared light into architectural spaces without replacing existing installations. Near-infrared modules integrate discreetly within standard linear luminaires, allowing lighting designers and specifiers to introduce a supplementary spectral layer while preserving the visual appearance of the space.

Designed for lighting designers, architects, consultants, luminaire manufacturers, contractors and specifiers working in occupied environments.

System Principles

  • Recognised format — designed around recognised Zhaga industry standards for straightforward integration into new lighting schemes or bespoke luminaires
  • Configurable output — selectable power settings and a continuous power rail for multiple modules; daisy-chainable
  • Optical options — multiple lens options to direct near-infrared into the intended occupied zone

Designed to Integrate, Not Replace

Replacing an entire LED lighting installation is often impractical and unnecessary. Deep Red Design instead focuses on occupied zones — workstations, meeting areas, receptions, lounges — and configures the supplementary spectral layer around them.

Suitable For

  • Offices & workstations
  • Meeting rooms
  • Reception & lounge areas
  • Commercial & retail environments
  • Wellness & clinical spaces

Personal Spectral Lighting: Light Where You Are

General lighting is designed to light a space. Personal Spectral Lighting is a different idea: it adds a further layer of light in the places where people actually spend their time.

Light Power Health, the makers of Deep Red, describe a gap in everyday indoor lighting. Conventional LED lighting contains very little of the longer wavelengths found in natural daylight, including near-infrared light, which we cannot see. Their approach is to add a layer of invisible near-infrared back into the room, alongside the lighting you already have.

An extra layer, not a replacement

Deep Red is designed to sit alongside existing fittings. It does not replace your lighting, and it does not change how a room looks, because the near-infrared part is invisible. That means a space can keep its current look and feel while gaining the additional layer.

What are occupied zones?

Three ideas sit behind the approach:

  • Spectral Lighting — restoring selected longer wavelengths that are missing from indoor light.
  • Personal Spectral Lighting — delivering that extra layer mainly where people are.
  • Occupied Zones — the practical method: applying the layer only to the areas that are in regular use, such as a desk, a reading chair, a seating area or a reception.

Floor plan showing occupied zones where supplementary spectral lighting is added

Because the layer is added only where people spend their time, there is no need to redesign a whole lighting installation. In a home, that might mean a few key spots rather than every room.

Good to know

System specifications
  • Zhaga-standard modules designed for integration into existing linear luminaires
  • 850nm near-infrared output with selectable power settings
  • Continuous power rail for clean installation and daisy-chaining
  • Multiple lens options for directing NIR into the intended occupied zone
How it works

Deep Red Design introduces 850nm near-infrared as an additional spectral layer within occupied environments. The NIR component is invisible during operation, allowing it to work quietly alongside the visible light already specified for a space. Lens selection helps place the output where it is intended, while the modular system supports a considered, scalable approach to architectural integration.
